Goa Board SSC and HSSC students can seek certified copies of their answer books under RTI!!!

As per the decision of the Goa State Information Commission dated 17.4.2012 in Appeal No.203/SIC/2011 the students of SSC and HSSC under Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary can get Certified copies of their answerbooks under Right To Information Act (RTI Act).

Even though normally  the Goa Board does not allow the students to take certified copies of their answerbooks, as no such provision is present in the board rules.

The students can still get certified copies of their own answerbooks under RTI.

The provision for inspection of answer book for a specified time is provided by the Goa Board but the students are not allowed to take the photocopies of their answer books with them.

Since under RTI the students will get the answer book after 30 days, which is the time prescribed under RTI Act. The students are advised to also apply for re-verification or re-evaluation through existing procedures of the board, as there is time limit for applying for re-verification or re-evaluation, the result of which they can then compare with the certified copies.

If the students apply for inspection of answer books as per the board procedures then the students will not get to take the copies of their answer books with them.
